The weather gods and the tide all helped with another successful Wakatere Club Picnic last Sunday - a flotilla sail to McKenzie Bay on Rangitoto for fun and games and a walk to the summit.
The picnic has been a longstanding highlight since the club's foundation in 1926 and we think it's still relevant and a fantastic reminder of why we love sailing. Participation is as important as racing and it was great to see kids having fun together and just being in their boats.
Adults mixed and mingled from across the classes and it was great to see such a good turn out. The water sparkled and the sun shone. A perfect day.
A huge thanks to those who rallied with big boats to help with the crossing, thanks to everyone on the water in support and those helping on the beach.
Special thank you to former commodore and life members Bruce & Karen Yarnton for organising a fabulous fun-filled day. A Wakatere summer tradition.
See you all next year.
