Duty Roster

Your Duty

Membership requires a commitment to the duty roster from all club members each season.

As a volunteer run club, you'll get a first hand experience of what it's like to be an active part of our club. It's also an opportunity to contribute and connect with other members while enjoying quality time together on the water. With a healthy number of members, this shouldn't be an onerous task if everyone plays their part.

No-one is exempt from duties. Parents will be rostered in lieu of their junior club member and are expected to complete a duty on their behalf. Active participation not only benefits the club but sets a positive example for the younger sailors, instilling a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and community spirit.

You must take ownership of your duty - if you cannot make your duty at short notice, you must contact your Coordinator for that date.

Duty Roster Information

The 2023-2024 duty roster rotates by 'class group' throughout the season. A Club Coordinator will be in touch nearer each group date.

Race results will not count for rostered groups on the date they are rostered. This allows the group to freely help with the running of club racing.

Exception: Results will count for all classes sailing the Wakatere Club Champs, regardless of the roster.

If you are not in a class group, there will be opportunities to respond to general call-outs throughout the season.

Duties for club racing are to be undertaken by:

● Each senior club member (including active life members)

● Each junior club member 15 or over

● One parent of each junior club member under 15

Based on current membership, it is expected that only one duty per person will be required in each half of the season.

Patrol boats are only to be driven by approved skippers. Approval can be achieved through Club Patrol Boat Safety Courses, Coastguard/ RYA courses, or being assessed by club-approved certifiers. Refer to the website Patrol Boat page.

Race results will not count for rostered groups on the date they are rostered. This allows the group to freely help with the running of club racing.

Regatta Duty Rosters

Wakatere needs need each club member aged 15 or over (or parent of each junior member <15yrs) to volunteer to assist with the REGATTAS that the club is running each season.

No one is exempt from duties. Parents will be rostered in lieu of their junior club members and be expected to complete ONE REGATTA DUTY on their behalf during one season. For anyone not volunteering, they will be allocated to a role.

Upcoming regattas for the season can be found on the Regatta page as each one nears
