This December Wakatere is holding an Opti Open Holiday Clinic. It will run over five days in the week leading up to Christmas.
The focus of the clinic will be on STARTING technique & strategy.
With the next National Champs being held at Wakatere, this is a great opportunity to improve your skills as well as your knowledge of the local waters.
Bookings are open to members and guests in the Opti Open fleet.
- Dates: Dec. 19th - 23rd 2022
- Time: 9am - 4pm each day
- Cost: $350 for members, $450 for guests (non-members)
The clinic will be run by Laurence Fauchelle and Andrew Brown. Some notes on our great coaches...
Laurence was a career coach running the NZ Sailing Academy out of Narrow Neck Beach for many years and taught a number of top sailors (Chris Steele, Leonard Takahashi and Markus Somerville to name a few). Laurence has a Diploma in coaching and a passion for teaching children. Laurence works full time in the composite manufacturing sector and has taken some time off to run this clinic for us.
Andrew (aka Brownie) is originally from Christchurch. He is the holder of 18 national titles in dinghy racing, and represented New Zealand at the 2004 Olympics in the 470 Class. He has had many years coaching on the Olympic circuit for NZ, Brazil, USA and Switzerland. Brownie is passionate about junior sailing in NZ, and frequently heads up coaching clinics around the country. He works for Doyle Sails in the One Design market.
