Learn to sail this April!
This April Wakatere is running two JUNIOR LEARN TO SAIL COURSES for 8-11yrs olds.
This is part of our Waka Compass program to start sailing by learning the fundamentals in a safe and social environment using the club Optimist dinghies.
Junior LTS April #1 (19th-23th April 2021)
Junior LTS April #2 (26th-30th April 2021)
Both courses will run for 5 consecutive mornings
Time: 9am - 12pm
Boats provided. YNZ qualified coaches. YNZ Level 1 qualification
Time to get out on the water! No previous experience required.

C1 April Holiday Program
When you have completed a Learn to Sail course at Wakatere, you are ready to move on to Confidence Level 1.
Wakatere is offering two Confidence Level 1 holiday courses for club members this April.
C1 April Holiday Program 1 - April 21 & 22
C1 April Holiday Program 2 - April 28 & 29
Both courses will run from 1pm - 4pm each day
Cost: $65 per course ($85 if using a Club Opti)
Winter Sailing
The Wakatere club racing season closes for winter on the 2nd May 2021 and reopens mid-September 2021. However, there is still plenty of sailing happening throughout the year.
For our juniors, we run informal winter coaching sessions every other Sunday morning. The weather is still good in May and June, but in July & August, it is sometimes too cold and rainy for young sailors that are just learning so you can expect a few cancellations like any winter sport.
Each session still has a plan and aim, and the kids get time on the water which is the most important part of upskilling at their level. These sessions don't require the same level of commitment as our term-time coaching, the goal is to have fun and keep sailing.
Senior adult sailing classes will have a winter series every second weekend, just like the juniors.
