Club Racing
Sail at Wakatere
Sunday club racing is the backbone of Wakatere - the day when a great mix of ages and classes meet on the water for friendly, good‑natured competition. Narrow Neck is one of the best sailing locations in New Zealand, with a waterfront clubhouse, a wide sandy beach, and the Rangitoto Channel right in front. It’s the perfect place to spend your Sunday.
We race most Sunday afternoons from September to May, and with our strong family focus, you’ll often see different generations of the same family sailing across the fleets. Our members keep the fleets lively, with a welcoming vibe that makes every Sunday feel like home.
Centreboard classes sailed: Optimist, P Class, Starling, RS Feva, 29er, 420, ILCA, RS Aero, OK Dinghy, Sunburst, Farr 3.7, Zephyr, A Class Cat.
When the bell rings at 12:30, head to the clubrooms for briefing - we’d love to have you join us!
