      2017 Bart's Bash

      DATE: SUNDAY 17th SEPT 2017

      VENUE: WAKATERE BC

Bart's Bash is one race held at clubs all around the world on the same weekend each year. Boats 'virtually' race each other through one global registration and results system. The event is run by the sailing charity - the Andrew Simpson Foundation : The Sailing Charity. Their motto is 'inspiring young people through sailing' which we endorse.

In light of recent events caused by Hurricane Irma, they have pledged to use the funds raised through this year's Bart's Bash to help sailing clubs and training centres in the Caribbean islands to re-equip and rebuild.

Wakatere asks for an entry donation (best offer), payable at club registration. All donations will be passed onto the AS Foundation.

Before the race starts every one including skippers and crew, need to sign up online -

Zero to extremely light breeze, strong high tides and huge wind shifts made it a challenge for race management to set courses and for the sailors to bide their time at this year's Secondary Schools Fleet Racing Regatta. Thanks to race management and all support craft for their patience. Three races were completed in all fleets on the final afternoon.

Congratulations to Westlake Boys High School - 1st overall school team and winner of the Epiglass Trophy. Top 4 sailor results to count across all fleets.

For the OK Dinghy & Farr 3.7 racing was abandoned on the final day due to poor visibility. It wasn't safe to race. For both fleets, Day 2 results stand as final.

For the Waszps and A-Class Cats one race was completed on the final day. Further races were cancelled due to poor visibilty and increasing wind. A protest in the Waszp class saw a change in overall winner at the 11th hour.
