What is the venue hire fee and what does it include?

We have a table of pricing which varies depending on the use of the venue. (i.e. wedding, conference etc.) and depending on the time of day.

Do you have caterers? Do I need a liquor license?

At Wakatere you need to bring in your own catering. Our kitchen is fully equipped for catering use. You are also able to supply your own alcohol. If you wish to sell alcohol, accept an entry fee to your event, or collect donations during your event (ie Fundraiser), you will need to obtain a permit from the Auckland City Council at least 6 weeks prior to your event. https://beta.aucklandcouncil.g...

What facilities do you offer?

The large main hall can seat up to 120 people. We have a fantastic commercial quality kitchen available for use when you hire our facility together with a great bar area opening out onto the deck.

What does Wakatere supply?

We supply rectangular trestle tables and chairs for the hirer to use. We also have a TV, PA system and a whiteboard. This is all included in the hire price.

Do you have a sound system?

No but we do offer the use of a PA system together with a TV which has USB capabilities.

Does my function need to end at midnight?

Yes. Music must finish by midnight and guests need to leave shortly after. 

What am I responsible for at the end of the function?

The hirer is required to remove all rubbish, bottles, food and alcohol from the hall and grounds. The hall is to be left in good, clean tidy order with all chairs and tables stacked in the manner requested by Wakatere and all electrical equipment is turned off. The hall must be locked and alarmed after use.

What will the cleaner do?

The cleaner will mop all the floors, clean the kitchen, bar area and the bathrooms.

Can we clean-up the day after the function or do we need to have everything cleaned before we leave?

Sometimes this is possible if we do not have sailing or another function on the Sunday. During summer the normal club sailing day is Sunday. Please discuss this with the functions coordinator. There will be an extra charge for this.

Before I book can I visit the venue and look around?

Absolutely, please email the Venue Hire Manager (details on website) to make an appointment.

Where can I hang decorations?

We have hooks along most of the walls to hang decorations. We ask that you do not use staples, nails or tacks. The hirer is not permitted to remove any wall fixtures or club memorabilia.

Can I get married on the beach or on the grassy area outside the club?

Yes. However, you need to contact the Auckland Council to get a permit. Wakatere only owns/hires the actual hall; we do not own/hire anything outside of it and we are situated in a Council Reserve. https://beta.aucklandcouncil.g...

Where can people park?

Your guests can park in the carpark directly across the road from the boat club. Parking is not permitted on the Wakatere Boating Club grounds, however, you are able to briefly unload any gear or catering using the old road in front of the club. Cars must never drive or park on the grassy area to the side of the club house.

What kind of music is allowed?

We allow any type of music (bands, DJ's, Juke Box, etc…) but the club is in a residential area so you need to be aware of noise restrictions. This is not the place to have very loud music.

Do you have the measurements of the hall?

Yes. A document detailing all the measurements is available on our website.

Will sailing be happening at the club?

It depends on the day of the week. For Wakatere Boating Club's sailing activity please check with our Venue Hire Manager. If the sailing club is active during your hire they will not come into the building.
