30 Jan 2015
The summer break has been amazing with lots of opportunities to get out on the water for a sail.
We have just returned from a great windsurf coaching clinic and Nationals in Lyttelton. Three days of racing with 3 races back to back in 16 to 20 knots. Results can be seen on the RS:X and Techno Facebook site. The Slalom Nationals are this week at the same venue.

Wakatere's Harrison Hill won the 8.5 Youth Men's National title at Lyttelton 26 Jan 2015. Not a big fleet but they all sailed amazingly in 18 - 25 knots in 9 races over 3 days. See photo. He was 4th overall racing against Natalia Kozinska and Joe Sterling from Australia. It was a great regatta.
We are now into the second half of our season's coaching and racing.
Great to see all the new sailors from around the country and amazed at the commitment and level of sailing - windsurfing is in good health. Notable word is getting around about our Raceboard fleet with past experts looking forward to a new regatta at Wakatere in March. Stay tuned for details.
This Sunday 1st Feb 2015 is the Volvo National Sailing & Boating Day and we have Morning Coaching and the Masonic Cup as our club afternoon race. We will welcome visiting sailors in the afternoon (no visitors entry fee) and run a really simple sausage sizzle and drinks at the bar after sailing.
The Masonic Cup is a Harbour Race around to the Yellow mark and then home. Very cool day on the Briny.
Please let me know if you'll be attending 10am coaching this Sunday or any other Sunday.
