Great Results

Published 08:09 on 4 Apr 2018

Congratulations to all Wakatere Opti sailors, parents and coaches for the outstanding results at the Opti Nationals, this year hosted by Queen Charlotte YC, Picton. As well as sailors lucky enough to stand on the podium at prizegiving, many others made significant improvements and we already have a set of younger siblings keen to enter next year.

Following a full season's coaching programme, we had a strong group of 20 Wakatere sailors attend this year's National Champs. Our high level Opti Open squad coached by Tim Adair had high expectations and fought hard for every point. Other standout performances from our intermediate Opti Open coaching group - Harrison Loretz who was leading the event at end of day 2 with his first ever National Championships and 10 year old Liam Richards who made Gold Fleet. Thanks to a great coaching programme led by Andrew Brown.
