Exciting travel destinations in store for ten Wakatere junior club members following the New Zealand International Optimist Dinghy Association team selections this week. Wakatere sailors have been quick to confirm with a few spots still pending. They will all represent NZ at important international IODA regattas in the coming months. Congratulations to you all.

George Lee Rush, Harrison Loretz: 2019 Optimist World Champs, Antigua (6-16 July) event website
Valentine Kayrouz: North American Optimist Champs, Nassau, Bahamas (27 Sept-4 Oct) event website
Vivien Webster-Chung: European Optimist Champs, Crozon-Morgat, France (22-29 June) event website
Alex Norman, Liam Richards, Ashton Williamson, Ethan Fong: Asian & Oceanian Optimist Champs, Al-Mussanah Sport City, Muscat, Oman (30 Sept-7 Oct) link to event
Tom Rebbeck: Japan Optimist Team (early Aug)
William Mason: Noumea Development Team (late Oct)
Selection is based on a ranking system from 3 NZ regatta results this season - the North Islands, The Interislander and the Nationals. They are referred to as 'ranking regattas'. George Lee Rush had his targets set on all three and won all of them.
