LOUIS VUITTON TROPHY 9th – 21st March
The Louis Vuitton Trophy began today with 8 entries match racing in
former Americas Cup boats. Depending on which course is set the day, it
may affect your sailing at Wakatere. It was held off Narrowneck today
so afternoon coaching groups also need to be well supervised. There are
4 possible courses which can change again in the middle of the day.
Keep to the guidelines - stay 100m away from any regatta boat and stay
out of the race course. See attached a notice of intention to hold a
major maritime event from the Harbour Master along with the course
layouts. Also find attached the notice to shift some harbour buoys
during this regatta just in case you are looking for them.
There is a free spectator launch twice a day 13th, 14th 20th, 21st.
Departing 9.30am and 1.30pm from outside Kermadec Restaurant at the
Viaduct. The boat will take 120 people and is first come, first served.
The website event address is http://www.louisvuittontrophy.com/home/
This is part of the Festival of Sail and will be a busy time on the
water.
CLUB MARINE RADIOS: Club radios must obviously be fully charged and
ready to go for the next sailing session. So if you take a radio afloat
ensure you return it to its recharging position in the club office.
These are NEVER to be left on patrol boats. They must also be rinsed in
fresh water – yes the whole thing (they are waterproof) pat dry
and place in the correct number charging position in the office.
Thanks.
SAILING IN CROATIA? This Wed 10th March 7pm
There will be a presentation about cruising and yacht charters in
Croatia and other parts of Europe at Takapuna Boating Club Wed 10th
March at 7pm. TOMORROW. Wakatere members are warmly invited to the
information evening with Jill Grant. Organised by A Walkers World

LOST & FOUND: A nice set of binoculars was found in front of the
club last Wednesday afternoon, possibly belonging to parent of a
sailor. Let me know if you think they may be yours.
michels@clear.net.nz BRAND NEW foils have been lost!
(centreboard/rudder) They were left for a while after the Secondary
Schools Regatta last week but not collected by the rightful owner. They
were in grey covers. Please check you only have your own or if anyone
knows where they are or who took them can they please contact Donn
Roberts donn.sue@clear.net.nz
LOST PROPERTY: The club lost property bin is overflowing! Apart from
various sailing gear there is a pillow and sleeping bag ready for a
weekend away. It will be on display this Sunday so have a good look or
it will be finding a better home the following week. Could all parents
look as kids can’t seem to recognize their own stuff?
PHOTOS: If anyone has good digital photos of club events we would love
to have them on our website. There are some recent additions in the
website photo gallery from the Cub Picnic. They don’t always have
to have a boat in view but just something for our club social history
e.g. a Sunday at opti coaching? Forward them to Amanda
